April is a great month to tune up your workout!  Schedule your Re-Start at the Fitness Center today.

With the emergence of spring, it is a wonderful time to review your current workout routine.  If you have been doing the same workout for three months or more, now is a good time to have one of our Fitness Trainer's administer the Senior Fitness Test to determine your fitness level compared to nationalized standards and to allow us to tweak your workout based upon your fitness goals.

Don't stop walking because the Erickson walking challenge is over.  Walking is a great form of exercise for weight maintenance, maintaining bone and muscle mass and cardiovascular health.  It's easy, it's fun and it's effective!  -- Keep on Walking Greenspring!--

According to the National Institute on Aging most people lose 20-40 percent of their muscle tissue as they get older.  Strength exercise can at least partly restore muscle and strength.    It is important to do strength exercises for all your major muscle groups at least twice a week, but not for the same muscle group on any 2 days in a row.  Fit tip:  Take three seconds to lift and three seconds to lower weights.  Never jerk weights into position.  Need help designing a strength building program?  Come visit us in the Health Club to get started on a safe and effective program!

Look for additional classes to be added to the monthly schedule.    If you have ideas for classes, please contact the Wellness Supervisor, at (703) 923-4616.
