Class Descriptions

Aqua Aerobics: A moderate paced water fitness class to improve cardiovascular endurance and fitness. Water weights and noodles may be incorporated into routines to improve strength and balance. Wear aqua shoes.

Balance Class: This is a “for fee” class to assess and improve residents balance to prevent falls. Residents will be screened and assigned to the appropriate level class based on their ability, and will be given homework to complete between regular class sessions. This is a great class for everyone!

Chair Exercise: A combination of exercises designed to improve and maintain upper and lower body strength, range of motion and flexibility, using light weights, dyna-bands, and foam balls. All exercises may be done while seated, variations will be available for those who would prefer to stand. Relaxation techniques and lite cardio conditioning will be included.

Low Impact: A gentle paced aerobic workout with easy to follow dance moves to improve and maintain cardio conditioning.

Stretch & Tone: A mid-level strength and flexibility class using hand weights, Dyna-bands, foam balls and additional equipment. Focus on the major muscle groups, abdominals, and range of motion training. Students perform exercises sitting, standing and on the mats. Participants should be able to get on and off the floor.

Parkinson Class: A seated chair class designed specifically for residents with Parkinson’s Disease. Class uses Dyna-bands, hand weights, and foam balls to work both upper and lower body major body muscle groups.

Water Arthritis: A gentle water class designed specifically for residents with arthritis. Gentle range of motion exercises will be performed in a slow and controlled setting. Wear aqua shoes.

Water Walking: A gentle paced water walking class to improve and maintain cardiovascular conditioning. This is a non-impact class. Wear aqua shoes.

Yoga:A gentle yoga class designed to improve balance, strength and flexibility, as well as incorporate breathing and meditation techniques. Class will accommodate both mobile and less mobile residents.
