Opportunities with the GSV Web Page Working Group

Residents and Staff are invited to become part of the Web Site team, to learn internet technology and/or the journalist skills needed to create, edit and maintain the pages of the GSV Resident's Web Site. All are invited to join in this venture. The Web Site Working Group usually meets on the first Monday at 1:30 PM in the TC Class Room. Come help us create new pages and maintain the site. We need help from anyone willing to pitch in and learn. Just show up at a meeting and find your niche or contact Bill Raymond, WC-514. Listed below are some of the opportunities. Learn by doing. Lots of on-the-job training.

Some Web Team Tasks and Jobs

GSV News Reporter/Editor: Solicit and collect news items to be posted in the GSV News pages. Type or copy articles, edit and organize as they would appear on the page and copy to a disk or attach it to an Email to the Web Goup.

Start Something New! like "Folks Of GSV" Be the focal point and contact for "Folks of Greenspring" pages. Assist Residents who are interested in having a "Folks" page with writing their thoughts and comments and with designing their page. Edit and organize the pages for posting.

Library Page Editors: Maintain the Library page and catalog.

Resident Information Editors: Maintain current the Resident Information Pages including the Transportation Schedule. Solicit, collect and prepare other information of importance to day to day living at GSV.

Calendar Editor: Coordinate with Community Resourcesand edit and update the Calendar Pages

Photo Album Editor: Solicit and collect photographs that might be of interest. Select photos for posting and organize the photo album page with appropriate captions and annotations.

Photo Technician: Crop, size and reformat photos to be posted. Work with Photo Album Editor to get photos into a usable digital format. Maintain archives.

Web Page Photographers: Take pictures for the Web Pages.

Web Page Technicians and Alternate Web Master: Convert inputs from the Page Editors and Coordinators into HTML format using Web Page editing software. Serve as alternate Web Master and upload new or changed files to the host site. This job requires a good familiarity with computers and a willingness to learn Web technology. Lots of OJT.
